Description / Role Overview
As the Inward Accountant, you will be responsible for handling all accounting tasks relating to inward materials, stock receipts, supplier billing for inward-facing operations, and ensuring that all inward shipments are accurately accounted for in Odoo/ERP. In an FMCG manufacturing environment, you will deal with raw material invoices, inward logistics vendor bills, consistency between store records and books, and supporting procurement & operations through timely accounting for stock inflows.
Your work ensures that input costs are correctly captured, the material ledger stays in sync, and supplier claims/discrepancies are resolved — crucial in a business with frequent product innovation and new raw material SKUs.
Responsibilities
- Record material inward invoices / supplier bills into accounting system (Odoo), matching with GRN (Goods Receipt Note) and store / warehouse records.
- Reconcile vendor / supplier accounts for inward supply chain vendors (transport, material purchase, packaging, etc.).
- Match 3-way matching (PO → GRN → Invoice) and flag discrepancies or variances.
- Reconcile stock ledger vs. accounting ledger, identify and rectify mismatches or inventory variances.
- Assist in month-end closing: accruals, provisions for inward purchases, prepaid maintenance, and moving entries.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Accounting (B.Com, M.Com)
- 2–4 years experience in inward purchase accounting, inventory accounting, or purchase ledger roles — preferably in manufacturing or FMCG
- Strong working knowledge of PO/GRN/Invoice matching, inventory variance reconciliation, and cost accounting principles
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage exceptions and discrepancies under deadlines
- Basic understanding of GST / vendor compliance / statutory accounting norms
Nice to have
- Experience in costing / landed cost calculations, import invoices, and vendor claims
- Exposure to input tax credit (ITC) reconciliation and GST / TDS impact on inward vendors
- Knowledge of supply chain / procurement / vendor evaluation / audits
- Exposure to new raw material SKUs / product innovations — dealing with novel vendor invoices
What's great in the job?
- You get to own a critical interface between procurement, warehouse, and finance — directly impacting cost control and margin
- Exposure to material cost accounting practices, which is a strong skill edge in manufacturing businesses
- Ability to shape inward accounting best practices in a company that’s launching new products and scaling
- Good visibility and interaction with multiple departments — procurement, operations, warehouse, supply chain
- Room for growth into senior accounting / cost / supply chain finance roles
