Description / Role Overview

As a Purchase Manager, you will lead the procurement of raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies with a strategic and cost-effective approach. In a product-innovation focused FMCG setting, your role ensures that inputs are available timely, at right quality, and at optimal cost, supporting launches, manufacturing, and supply continuity. You’ll drive vendor strategy, procurement governance, and cross-functional coordination to maintain smooth operations.

You will act as the procurement centre of intelligence — assessing demand, sourcing alternatives, negotiating contracts, and safeguarding supply chains for a fast-moving business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the procurement strategy aligned with production forecasts, budgets, and new product launches.
  • Source, evaluate, and maintain relationships with vendors / suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and compliance.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, payment terms, and SLAs for raw materials, packaging, consumables, and indirects.
  • Plan and manage purchase orders (POs), tracking, delivery schedules, and fulfillment of orders.
  • Coordinate with production, R&D, quality, and inventory teams to ensure BOM integrity, material specs, and quality standards.

Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / Supply Chain / Engineering / Business (or similar)
  • 5+ years procurement experience, at least 2–3 years in a managerial role (preferably in FMCG / manufacturing)
  • Strong contract negotiation, vendor management, and sourcing skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation acumen
  • Ability to handle complexity, ambiguity, and multi-stakeholder coordination

Nice to have

  • Exposure to global sourcing / import material procurement / customs / duties
  • Experience in cost reduction / category management / value engineering
  • Familiarity with supply chain risk management, alternate vendor sourcing strategies
  • Knowledge of new product development (NPD) and procurement role in early-stage sourcing
